Kids in the Kitchen Cooking Class – October 20, 2011

Hannah's Peach Galette

Hannah’s Peach Galette

This is Hannah.  Hannah is a very happy and adorable 11-year old.  Hannah is our Sous Chef at most of my Cooking Classes and has learned a lot about cooking in a short amount of time.  She was inspired to make this Peach Galette, following our Harvest Festival Cooking Class on August 4.  Why?  Because there were peaches on her tree and why not create something beautiful and tasty out of them.  She did!   I didn’t get to taste her heart-shaped Peach Galette baked right out of Alice Waters cookbook, but I smelled the deliciousness and her lucky family did enjoy this lovingly made dessert.

I love teaching Kids to cook in the Kitchen.  What could be more rewarding than to see the joy in a child’s eye when they made something special themselves? And what a gift it is to give young people basic cooking skills which will reward them over and over in their lifetime.  So on Thursday, October 20, our cooking class is themed “Kids in the Kitchen” 3:30 – 6:30 pm.   This will be a fun afternoon when we will take raw ingredients and spin them into a delicious and healthy meal that can be made at home again and again.    We will be learning to make Veggie Popcorn, Roasted Veggie Quesadillas, Roast Chicken and Apple Cinnamon Hand Pies, Fresh Mint Lemonade.

Class fee $20 when you reserve by October 17, $25 at the door.  Children ages 6-9 should be accompanied by an adult.  To reserve your spot,  email Patricia@FreshFoodinaFlash.com .  Then write a check to “Fresh Food in a Flash”;
mail it to Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, Cooking Class,  6700 West
