Soups, Stews and Cracker Class – January 12, 2017

Soup’s on! Start the New Year right by learning how to make some healthy, tummy warming soup at our Soups, Stews and Cracker Class on Thursday, January 12, 2017 6:00 – 9:30 pm at the Holy Nativity Community Hall.

Last year we made this healthy and yummy Bean, Bacon and Tomato Soup along with homemade Whole Wheat Bread.  Come join us as we try some new recipes for 2017.

Our annual tradition after the gorge fest of the holidays is to lighten up with some delicious soups that are perfect with a salad and fresh-made crackers for a winter meal that will warm your soul. This year you will learn to make chicken stock that we will use in most of our soups.  Once you make chicken stock and freeze it in containers, you can whip up a fresh-made soup in a flash.

Here are the delicious recipes that we will make at our Soups, Stews and Cracker Class:

Homemade Chicken Stock

Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Cajun-Style (and okra-less) from Nancie McDermott’s new book, Southern Soups & Stews

Cuban Black Bean Soup

Chicken Soup with vegetables and shell pasta

Fisherman’s Soup with fish, shrimp and calamari

Crispy Sesame Crackers – thin and light, the perfect complement to your soup.

Patricia K. Rose, of Fresh Food in a Flash, will lead this hands-on cooking class on Thursday, January 12, 2017, 6:00-9:30 at the newly remodeled Holy Nativity Community Hall in Westchester. Once we complete the cooking, sit down and enjoy a meal you and your new friends made together with a glass of wine.

Cooking Class fee $50 when you reserve by January 9, $55 thereafter if space available. To reserve your spot, email Patricia@FreshFoodinaFlash.com.  Classes take place at Holy Nativity Community Hall,, 6700 West 83rd Street, Westchester, CA 90045.
