Soups, Stews and Bread Cooking Class – January 10, 2019

A bowl of soup is the perfect antidote to the cold winter blues.  Brighten up someone’s day with a delicious bowl of soup and some fresh made bread.  It will warm their soul!  Want to taste some delicious new soups? Join us at our Soups, Stews and Bread Cooking Class on Thursday, January 10, 2019, 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. at the Holy Nativity Community Hall. 

This year, I thought it would be fun to make a Beef Stew in a pressure cooker.  With the high level of interest in the Instant Pot and other electric pressure cookers, you can learn how to make something in a flash that used to take 2+ hours.  So we will be making my favorite Beef Stew that has red wine and veggies in a pressure cooker in a lot less time.

If you’ve ever been to the Cheese & Olive Restaurant in Venice Beach, you’ve tasted the addictive garlic knots.  Let’s make these together.  Our healthy soup will be balanced out with these delicious little splurges.  They are so easy to make that I’m apologizing in advance for adding this to your repertoire.

Here’s what you will be tasting at the Soups, Stews and Bread Cooking Class:

• Fresh-made Vegetable Stock
• Beef Stew with red wine and veggies in a pressure cooker
• Carrot Parsnip Soup with Parsnip Chips
• Canadian Cheese soup with Pumpernickel Croutons
• Moroccan-Spiced Chickpea and Noodle Soup with Turkey Meatballs called Hirara from “Everyday Dorie” by Dorie Greenspan
• Garlic Knots – an irresistible roll made from fresh-made pizza dough

Patricia K. Rose, of Fresh Food in a Flash, will lead this hands-on cooking class on Thursday, January 10, 2019, 6:00-9:30 at the newly remodeled Holy Nativity Community Hall in Westchester. Once we complete the cooking, sit down and enjoy a meal you and your new friends made together with a glass of wine.
