So many pies, so little time! Every year for our Pies and Tarts Cooking Class, I come up with five new pie recipes that would be perfect for entertaining friends and family during the ultimate pie season – Thanksgiving! It’s a great time to brush up on your flaky pie crust making skills too. So come join us Thursday, November 13, 6:00 – 9:00 at the Holy Nativity Community Hall in Westchester when we will turn flour, butter and sugar into something sweet and delicious.
I will be serving up a savory pie for dinner, while we all learn some new techniques and recipes too. So come hungry and ready to have a rocking time. There will be all the favorites – pumpkin, apple and chocolate with some new twists, plus a classic lemon pie and a decadent rum pie paired with a chocolate crust. Something for everyone to love. In this class you will bake up your own pie to take home, while tasting nibbles among the class.
Here’s what’s on the menu:
Homemade Pie Crust
Pumpkin Pie with Spiced Walnut Streusel
Chocolate & Coconut Pecan Tart
Rustic Apple Tart with Honey, Dates & Nuts
Lemon Meringue Pie – the classic
Rum Cream Pie in a Chocolate Crust
+ a Savory Pie for dinner

[…] We’ll excuse her since she brought two cases of the red walnuts that were in the fudge to share with us, complements of Sanguinetti. It’s a new walnut variety grown in Linden, California that is non-GMO and has a creamy, nutty flavor without a bitter walnut taste. I’m glad to have these on hand as I plan out my holiday baking and to bring to our Pies and Tarts Cooking Class on November 13. […]
