Comfort Food Cooking Class – October 11, 2018

Potatoes Dauphinoise

Comfort Food means something different to everyone depending on where you are from.  In the Los Angeles melting pot we live in, this could mean dishes from all different ethnic groups. But one thing is certain, these are the foods that we are nostalgic for as the season changes and we move toward the holidays. As the weather gets cooler, you want to snuggle up inside the house on the couch under a blanket and get comfortable, so let’s cook up some Comfort Food!

We are going to cook some of my favorite Comfort Foods  in our Comfort Food Cooking Class on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Holy Nativity Community Hall.  Get ready for some delicious classics you are going to love.

Here’s what’s on our Comfort Food menu:

  • Spiced Up Deviled Eggs
  • Meat Loaf 72 Market Street topped with a tangy tomato glaze – I’ve been making this flavorful, spiced just right meat loaf for decades from a favorite Venice, California restaurant, courtesy of the Los Angeles Times
  • Potatoes Dauphinoise or Potato Gratin with a nutty Gruyere cheese
  • Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Maple Syrup from Rick Rodgers “The Big Book of Sides”
  • Butterscotch Pudding from Ford’s Filling Station Restaurant in Culver City, California newly printed in the Los Angeles Times

Patricia K. Rose, of Fresh Food in a Flash, will lead this hands-on cooking class on Thursday, October 11, 2018, 6:00-9:30 at the newly remodeled Holy Nativity Community Hall in Westchester. Once we complete the cooking, sit down and enjoy a meal you and your new friends made together with a glass of wine.

Cooking Class fee $55 when you reserve by October 8, $65 thereafter if space available. To reserve your spot, email Patricia@FreshFoodinaFlash.com.  Classes take place at Holy Nativity Community Hall, 6700 West 83rd Street, Westchester, CA 90045.
